Jeff’s journey in table tennis has taken him from national junior champion to representing Australia at the Sydney 2000 Olympics in the doubles event. Co-founding PingSkills allowed him to share his love for the sport with players around the world. Jeff’s focus is on helping players understand not just the "how" but the "why" behind every stroke, allowing them to improve both mentally and physically in their game.
"I started as a good junior tennis player who occasionally played table tennis recreationally. Once I retired, I started playing table tennis regularly and it became my passion, but I soon found out that I really didn't know how to play it properly. Fortunately, I found the Ping Skills website, which I found to be instrumental in my progress as a player. Alois and Jeff provide good resources for the technical aspect of hitting the various types of shots but also provides guidance for match play and even sport psychology. There are many key things that I have learned but one that resonant with me is the importance of the finish position. If I finish my strokes properly, I usually hit a good shot and that is something that most other instructors don’t emphasize but I find it really important even after playing for a couple of years. In addition, their website has a wealth of information even on dealing with some uncommon situations. Once, I played a person who accidentally was hitting me short high shots near the net with backspin. This seemed like an easy shot to put away, but I missed a number of them. When I went to their website, I found a video on how to hit this exact shot. They have so much information on their website. Keep up the good work."
